Press Release Summary: Santa Pod Raceway's Performance, Tuning and Modified (PTM) Show could not have been held on a more glorious Sunday; the summer sun was out and there were clear blue skies over the raceway throughout the day. The sun intensity was so strong in fact that the raceway commentators spent considerable time warning the crowds to apply their sun-tan creams liberally throughout the course of the day.
Press Release Body: The show itself went very well with many members of the public turning up to race one another and test their cars' performance out in the Run What Ya Brung competitions, which were held on the world-famous Santa Pod ¼ mile dragstrip.
Raceway sponsors, leading turbocharging specialists, Turbo Dynamics (TD) were also present at the show this year with staff available to answer tuning and performance questions, as well as handing out goodie bags containing a selection of TD freebies.
The highlight of the day however, had to be TD's gorgeous girl, Louisa. The slim, blonde-haired model spent the day posing for professional photographers, as well as with members of the public and by modified cars. Louisa, who was dressed in a blue and white, figure-hugging and midriff-bearing outfit, quickly became known to all as "Lovely Louisa"! She, along with the TD staff who attended, had travelled up to Wellingborough for the day from Christchurch in Dorset; home to TD.
Other attractions at the PTM Show included a demo from one of the world's fastest cars, the Fireforce 3 Jet Car. The amazing car wowed gathered crowds by powering-up its massive, exceedingly powerful and loud jet engine, and in the process producing vast clouds of smoke, before speeding down the dragstrip at a shocking rate. As with all ironically timed problems though, the dragstrip's computer system, which records car times and speeds, failed to work leaving the crowd unsure of it's exact speed during the run! The Jet Car has previously been recorded travelling at speeds in-excess of 330MPH.
The PTM Show was also the opening round for the popular HKS Drag Series and the widely anticipated, brand-new Euro Sports Compact race (ESC). The ESC featured a selection of Europe's quickest VW, MG and Lancia street cars going head to head and hitting speeds over 130MPH in just 10 seconds; fighting out their claims to be The Fastest European Car in the UK. On top of this, Handling competitions and professional Drifting shows took place throughout the day, with the public invited to be passengers in the Drifter's cars.
Caroline Day, Santa Pod Raceway's Marketing Manager said of the show's success, "A superb field of cars combined with such good weather created the perfect atmosphere this weekend. The new Euro Sports compact shootout was heralded a major success and paves the way for an exciting future. After just two years the PTM show has certainly found its feet!"
Further upcoming shows at Santa Pod Raceway include the GTI Festival, the Marangoni Ultimate Street Car festival and the JapShow Finale. Turbo Dynamics today announced that, following the success of the PTM Show, the company will also be attending all three of these events, along with their "Lovely Louisa". The USC festival, said to be the "fastest, hottest, largest and loudest modified car festival in Europe" will be taking place at the start of August.
